About Bi-Ki Designs
Bi-Ki Designs is a one-woman company that sells handmade, totally unique items. The creator, Vicki, was taught crocheting and sewing by her grandmother when she was nine years old and has been making various items ever since – always expanding her knowledge. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in textile art and design in 1993 from the University of Louisville. She was also one of the 12 ‘founding mothers’ of the Louisville Fiber and Textile Artists (L.A.F.T.A.) group, whose purpose was to provide creative feedback and opportunities for local fiber artists.
She’s had the unique opportunity and privilege of studying with Kyrgyzstani felt makers, and artists Jori Johnson (Japan), Patricia Spark (Washington state), Chad Alice Hagan (Asheville, NC), Polly Stirling (Australia), and May Hvistendahl (Netherlands).
She primarily makes wearables from felt, but her interests are varied. From the creator herself:
“When I am exploring an idea, I will make maybe six items in the category, and then I move on to another idea. So many ideas, so little time! All items are from a limited edition and I do not do anything twice because that would be boring! No two pieces are ever identical. I don’t like to mass produce anything. And since the availability of the products I use to make these items changes over time, it is impossible to replicate products.” However, this ensures that you will be receiving a unique handcrafted item.“
