F.A.Q.
Here are some frequently asked questions. Hopefully your question is answered here, but if not just contact me and I’ll get it answered!
Where are your materials sourced from?
For upcycled clothing: I look for high quality fabric material (usually formerly designer clothing items) in used clothing places like Consignment shops, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.
For felted wearables: I make the fabric from Merino sheep wool, then I make the clothing items. Felt is the process used for creating a solid fabric from sheep wool. It is also the name of the fabric created. This is a labor intensive process that requires additional time, hence, the higher cost of the items.
For polar fleece socks: The patterns available depend upon what Joann fabrics have in stock at the time. My suggestion is to order a color and/or theme or you can go on Joann Fabrics website and pick the fabric you want. The pre-made items will be on my website.
For upcycled jewelry: I use soda cans for the aluminum in order to produce light weight items which is specifically important for the large earrings. The painted designs are accomplished with alcohol inks and then preserved with a final clear coat.
For Byzantine chain jewelry: I purchase the aluminum jump rings from a small entrepreneur at www.weavegotmaille.com. The chain is accomplished by assembling numerous jump rings into a pattern. There are many patterns. My favorite is Byzantine.
For Christmas ornaments: see the description of the item. I make them out of paper, thread, yarn, felt, and aluminum. The items available are on the website here.
What is upcycling?
Upcycling is a term for reuse of discarded objects or material (still in good condition) in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original. This helps the environment by keeping a lot of goods out of the landfills as well as avoiding additional industrial construction environmental issues.
What is the estimated shipping/order turnaround time?
Shipping and order turnaround time will be provided at the time of your order. The typical time is 2 weeks. However, at holiday time it may be longer due to the number of orders and longer shipping times.
How do I take measurements?
